If you are interested in Track & Field, and are currently not involved in a sport, or maybe even have never participated in anything while you have been at South; then Track & Field just might be for you. Track & Field conditioning will begin on Wednesday, January 18th at 4:00 in the J-Hall Fitness room. In order to participate you must have a current physical on file. You also need to bring with you a coachable attitude and willingness to work hard. You can pick up more information from Coach Goering in K3, Coach McDowell in M16, Coach Steiner in M6 and in the B2 office.

Although Titanantics 2017 isn’t until May, preparations have begun! If you are interested in performing a solo, duet, dance number, or even a comedy routine, there will be an informational meeting for Special Acts on Wednesday Jan 18th during Titantime in the choir room. Just drop by A23 and get a pass signed! All variety of acts are welcome. All Special Acts performers must be enrolled in a Fine Arts class and will not be allowed to be on the D & F list. The judges have been selected and they are looking forward to hearing and seeing all of the acts!
Mural, Mural on the wall. Who’s the best artist of them all? If you are interested in helping Student Leadership design our own South High mural, please come by the CCC, B6, to pick up an application. The winning Mural design will be awarded a prize.
Attention Junior Class officers and any juniors interested in helping with Prom. We will have a meeting on Thursday, January 19 in Room B10 during Titan Time. We need to select a theme and start making plans for Prom, which will be on March 4.

The Lt. Governor announced a new award honoring high school students who give back to their communities.
The Board of Education wants to hear from the community on what characteristics they would like to see in the next superintendent. Please complete the online survey and share your thoughts! It will be open until the end of the day on January 19.
The Wichita Board of Education moved quickly on some first steps to begin the superintendent search during its January 9 meeting to expedite the search process.
The Board of Education had its first discussion on a search for a new superintendent during a special meeting on January 5.
The Olathe Public Schools Board of Education has confirmed that Wichita's Superintendent of Schools, John Allison, will become Olathe's next superintendent of schools effective next school year. Superintendent Allison will continue to serve the students and staff in Wichita through the end of the 2016-17 school year.
Education EDGE gifts were presented to school staff, fine arts and athletics during the December 12 Board of Education meeting.
Students and teachers at seven high schools were surprised with grants valued between $1,000 - $4,000 as part of The Next Generation of Philanthropy partnership with the Wichita Community Foundation.
