South High Students - We have no school Monday February 18th and Tuesday February 19th next week. Enjoy your break.
Wednesday February 20th is a special day at South High please listen carefully.
Freshman and sophomores you do not report to school Wednesday, February 20th. Again this is only for freshman and sophomores.
Wednesday February 20th all juniors and seniors will report to school from 8AM-12:30 PM. It is a required school day please be on time. Juniors will be ACT testing, as well as seniors who have not taken the ACT test. Seniors who have already taken the ACT test will still need to report to school and enjoy a morning of fabulous activities planned along with prizes to be won in the big gym. Seniors this is a day of attendance fulfilling requirements on the number of days prior to graduation. Buses will run at 12:30, and we will have a grab and go lunch available. Again juniors and seniors you will report to school as normal Wednesday February 20th at 8AM.
Since Wednesday, February 20th is a State Testing Day with Standardized testing conditions in effect, which means cell phones, smart watches or any electronic devise is not allowed. So help us help you help us and please leave these devices at home or in a locker during the testing. However if you bring it with you the expectation is that it will be turned into your testing room supervisor for safe keeping during the test. Have no fear your phones or any other device you turn in will be returned to you after testing without consequences. The only things you can bring with you on testing day is an ACT approved calculator and #2 pencils NO mechanical pencils. Thank you and good luck on testing day.
Audition forms for Titanantics 2019 are now ready. Drop by the choir room/A23 and pick one up so that you can be a part of TITANANTICS 2018. Sign up for audition times will start the week of Feb 25th. Forms, downloads of background tracks, and signing up for audition times are ALL due on Wednesday Feb 27th.
Titans, if you have an interest in working with children, apply for the Early Childhood Education program for next school year. Pick up an application from Mrs. Dayhuff in F4 or from your counselor. Applications are due March 1.
“Glamorous, Sparkling Night” is this year’s homecoming. The dance will be tonight Friday, February 15th after the boy’s basketball game. This year during the dance will be announcing the homecoming king and queen! Tickets will go on sale the week of the dance, through Friday the 15th during lunch by the front door for $5. Tickets will be sold at the door of the dance for $7.
Special Homecoming announcement: the grade level with the highest attendance to the dance will win the spirit stick.
This is Spirit Week. If you participate you can receive a stamp before school at the front door. These will be given only before school so be on time. If you receive a stamp and are in your spirit attire you will be able to get out for lunch 5 minutes early.

High school juniors and eligible seniors to take ACT for free February 20 – No school for freshman and sophomores
This school year, the state of Kansas is paying for one ACT test, allowing all juniors, and seniors who have not taken the ACT, to take the test for free on February 20.
This bi-annual award program honors employees, volunteers and school partners for exemplary service. Principals must select their award recipients and notify Strategic Communications by Friday, November 2.
Nominations are due Friday, February 22.
The Board of Education heard an update on the current year budget during its February 11 meeting, as they begin to plan for next year’s budget.
