What is Battle of the Books?

Battle of the Books is a reading program sponsored by USD 259.  The purpose is to get students in grades 3-5 excited about reading.  I love it because I see students grow in their selection of books and their reading ability.  Many times they find a new favorite book or author!

Students commit to reading 16 books that are selected by USD 259.  They also will complete a book summary for each book. There are a variety of fiction and non-fiction books on the list.  The reading level of the books ranges from 2nd grade to 7th grade.

A final team of 4 is selected and will represent Price-Harris in January during the district competition.  At this competition, the Price-Harris team competes against 3-4 other schools over our knowledge of the books.
