COMCARE Children's Services Serving Youth Families of Sedwick County
COMCARE proudly offers an array of services to children and families of Sedgwick County. Services range from outpatient therapy to more intensive home and community-based services.
COMCARE would like to highlight a new opportunity to serve children and youth in the schools. COMCARE has always sought ways to reach children in the community and provide services where they might need the most, including schools throughout Sedgwick County. However, now through a new initiative, this is becoming even more possible. COMCARE and Wichita Public Schools are partnering to provide an integrated approach to meeting children's mental health needs. Twenty-two schools have been identified for this pilot project to provide for the variety of needs children may have that interfere with learning and overall well-being. Teams of professionals will be in each of these 22 schools with the goal of identifying children who would benefit from this program and then reaching out to families for their participation and engagement. COMCARE will provide an array of services to these youth and families including therapy, family therapy, skill building groups, and case management. Emphasis is put on evidence-based practices that have been shown to produce the best outcomes such as cognitive behavioral therapies and various skill-building curriculums.
