About Your Librarian

  • brainard 2018 My name is Andrea Brainard and I have been teaching since 1994. I began my career in education as a music teacher and later fulfilled my dream of becoming a school librarian. I earned a bachelor's degree in music education from KSU, and a master's degree in Educational Technology-Library Media from Pittsburg State University.

I love to share my enthusiasm for literature, learning and information in ways that make it meaningful and irresistible for my students.

Building community is a priority in my library. In addition to teaching library and information skills, my students also spend time making connections with each other that create a classroom community defined by kindness, empathy and respect, with the ultimate goal of taking these skills out into the world to make a positive contribution wherever they go.

The best way to contact me is through my school email address: abrainard@usd259.net. You can also call the Isely office at 316-973-8200 and leave a message.
