• 2017 Board of Education Election Information

    City and School Election dates have been scheduled as follows:

    • Primary Election: Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Polls open from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.
      In August 2017, there will not be a primary for USD 259 because not more than three candidates filed for any open Board seat. A primary is required only if more than three candidates file for a position.
    • General Election: Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Polls open from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.

    The terms of office for the following members of the Board of Education, Unified School District No. 259, will expire on January 8, 2018:

    District 1:

    District 2:

    Joy Eakins

    District 5:

    Mike Rodee

    District 6:

    Lynn W. Rogers

    The District 1, District 2, District 5, and District 6 members will be elected for a four-year term commencing January 8, 2018 and expiring January 10, 2022.

    The filing deadline for elected office was June 1, 2017 at noon. Candidates were required to file in person at the Sedgwick County Election Office, 510 N. Main, Suite 101, in downtown Wichita.     Voting Plan for USD 259: The voting plan adopted by a majority of the electors at the regular election held November 8, 1994, is Voting Plan B, defined by KSA 72-8003 (b): "All electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law, and who reside in the member district, may vote in the primary election for the member positions of such member district and for the at-large member position. All electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law, and who reside in the school district may vote in the general election for all member positions, including the at-large member position to be filled."
