Eleven WPS students named National Merit semi-finalists
Students from East High, Northeast Magnet and Northwest High School have been named National Merit Semifinalists.

WPS Board approves putting bond issue measure on the ballot
For just the third time in 50 years, WPS will take a facility bond issue to Wichita voters on February 25, 2025. The Board of Education voted to put the special bond election on the ballot in an amount not to exceed $450 million to finance improvements with no tax rate increase.

Every Student Future Ready Strategic Plan
The Every Student Future Ready Strategic Plan will guide the Wichita Public Schools’ efforts over the next five years. The Strategic Plan has 3 Student Success Outcomes: Increase academic achievement and graduation rate, prepare students for life, college and career success, and create and enhance safety and belonging.

Facility Master Plan – Step 1 approved
The Board of Education unanimously approved the final draft of the Facility Master Plan – Step 1 on August 26, 2024. The Facility Master Plan is the roadmap and vision for WPS facilities moving forward over the next several years.

Wichita Public Schools awarded $15.3M for energy upgrades
Wichita Public Schools was awarded a $15.3 million Renew America’s Schools Prize through the US Department of Energy.

Please see Ms. Clark in C11 for questions or to get a pass.Congratulations to EJ Edwards for running the fastest cross-country race in school history at the Emporia Invitational on Saturday. He ran a 16:09 5K, which equals to three 5 minute, 10 second miles in a row! This takes down a record that has been in place for 15 years, since 2009! The top 5 Varsity boys - EJ, Grant Gray, Talan Bogart, Jack Brown, and Phillip Bowers - matched the fastest average team time in school history, also from 2009. Every runner in every boys and girls race ran either a personal best time or a season best time. Our next meet is this Saturday, 7:30 AM at the Cessna Activity Center.
