• “Eat, Play, Learn”

In the years since we became a Magnet School, we have participated in many health and wellness programs to teach and encourage healthy living.  In 2007-08, our principal, Elbert McGhee, sent a group of staff members to Ft. Leavenworth Schools to check out a new program called “Eat, Exercise, Excel.”  Our staff came back excited to see this program implemented at Woodland.  The idea behind this program was that students would eat in the classroom, with their teachers, in a calmer environment. Then they would go outside for a, structured, rotation of exercise in the fresh air.  The thought was, that the first two components of this program would increase student study abilities and create higher test scores, allowing them to “Excel.” As we have tweaked this program, we have changed the name of it to “Eat, Play, Learn.”
