• The following activites are open to all cadets enrolled in AFJROTC at Heights.

    Raider Team (Season Aug thru Oct) KSHSAA Physical required

    Raider competitions are designed for a small group of 9 cadets (8 cadets compete in each event, one alternate for each event)  of physically fit and mentally tough cadets to compete in various outdoor activities, preferably in a very primitive-type location with solid amenities to ensure the safety of the participants.  The teams compete in City League competitions as well as regional meets that promote teamwork, discipline and leadership. Practices are Mon, Tue and Wed from 3:30pm to 5pm. Some Friday or Saturday practices maybe required.

    Drill Team (Season Aug thru Nov)

    Drill Teams consist of an Armed Drill , Unarmed Drill and Color Guard. The teams compete in City League competitions as well as regional meets and promote teamwork, discipline and leadership. Practices are from 6:30am to 7:30am M-F. The City League meets are Tuesdays and Thursdays.

     JLAB Joint leadership & Academic Bowl

    The JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl (JLAB) is a nationally recognized academic competition created exclusively for JROTC students. By participating, cadets learn the values of citizenship, leadership, academic competition, and college opportunity.

    Archery Team (Season Dec thru Apr)

    Cadets will compete locally and in state tournaments. Cadets will compete in the National Archery in the Schools format (NASP). An archery team is 12 cadets and may have two teams of 24 cadets. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday after school.

    Indoor Drone Team (Season Oct thru Apr)

    We compete in the Indoor Aerial Drone Competitions. There are three parts to an Indoor Drone Competition. The first part is the cadets program' drones to fly through a course for points. The second part is piloted flight, where cadets fly against other teams to earn points in the challenge portion of the tournament. The last part is the Competition Logbook. Judges review the cadets' plans and strategies for competitions. Practices Mon and Wed after school

    Kitty Hawk Honors Society

    KHAS is the academic honor society of AFJROTC that promotes high academic standards, school and community service, self-confidence, and initiative along with leadership abilities,academic excellence and furthers members’ knowledge in aerospace.
