My student tested positive. What is their return date?
If a student is positive for COVID, the student must be isolated for a minimum of 5 days after onset of symptoms. If the student is fever-free for 24 hours without medication AND if the positive student's symptoms are improving, then the student can return to school as early as day 6 (Day 0 is hte first day of symptoms).
If the student is NOT fever-free for 24 hours without medication AND not feeling better by day 5, then the student must remain at home until they have met the 24 hours of being fever-free and symptoms are improving.

One of my children is positive. Can I bring the others to school or are they a close contact?
If the student lives in the same household as the positive case, they are considered a household close contact. Whether they can return to school immediately depends on vaccination status. Please see the household close contact protocol online at: https://bit.ly/WPShousehold.

My child was with someone who tested positive. What do we do next?

I am COVID positive. Can my kids go to school?
If the student lives in the same household as the positive case, they are considered a household close contact. If the student has been vaccinated and is feeling well, they may return to school, wear a mask and monitor for symptoms. Will COVID-19 vaccines be required?
While encouraged, the COVID-19 vaccine will not be required for students or staff.
WPS follows the immunization guidelines set by the Kansas State Department of Health and Environment. Click here to learn more about KDHE's immunization requirements. Should the vaccine become a requirement, we will revise our expectations.
