Welcome to Kindergarten!
Kindergarten is an exciting time for your child. In order for your child to be enrolled in Kindergarten in the Wichita Public Schools, they will need to be 5 years old by August 31 each year. We offer a free, full-day program at all of our elementary schools.
To find your neighborhood elementary school, use our SchoolFinder page or contact Student Records and Enrollment Services at 316-973-4498.
To learn more about magnet school options for your student, visit our Magnet Department page. Applications have closed for the 2023-24 school year; however some spots may be available at select schools. You can call the Magnet office to discuss at 973-4464. Any students in pre-k at a WPS magnet elementary do need to apply to remain there for kindergarten and beyond.
Students new to the area can go to our Enrollment page for more information about the enrollment process.
