    November 7, 2022

    The Board of Education approved to retain the search firm of Ray & Associates to conduct a comprehensive search for Wichita Public Schools next superintendent. Ray & Associates will conduct a comprehensive process that includes:

    • Board input and preparation
    • Profile development
    • Recruiting and screening
    • Candidate presentation
    • Selection of finalist
    • Future planning

    December 1, 2022 - January 20, 2023

    Online questionnaire for community input on developing the profile and job description will be available on the WPS website. 


    January 19, 2023  

    Parents and the community are invited to provide in-person feedback to shape the Superintendent Profile during the Showcase of Choices and Opportunities at Century II Expo Hall. There will be a come-and-go input opportunity to fill out an 8-question survey. The Showcase of Choices and Opportunities is 5 - 7:30 p.m.


    January 23, 2023

    Approve Superintendent Profile at the regularly scheduled BOE meeting. Posting of the job application through February. Watch the BOE meeting.

    Announced new Superintendent selection. Kelly Bielefeld named future Wichita Public Schools’ Superintendent. 


    Through October 2023

    New superintendent to begin community listening when appropriate.
