Meet Our Superintendent - Kelly Bielefeld
Get to know Superintendent.Bielefeld - Watch 3 Questions with KellyKelly's responsibilities as Wichita Public Schools Superintendent formally began on July 1, 2023. Mr. Bielefeld previously served as the Wichita Public Schools Executive Director of College and Career Readiness, where his work supported secondary schools with Career and Technical Education leadership, college credit expansion, and increasing the number of students earning industry credentials. He was instrumental in helping shape our Future Ready Centers in Advanced Manufacturing and Health Science. These centers provide opportunities for students to gain technical skills so they will be able to enter the workforce after graduation.
Mr. Bielefeld has previous leadership experience in Clearwater, Derby, Renwick Public Schools, and the Diocese of Wichita. In these districts he served a variety of roles including Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, 4th - 8th grade principal, preK- 5th grade principal and K - 8th grade principal. He began his teaching career in Goddard Public Schools as a Career and Technical Education and Language Arts teacher.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Kansas State University, his Masters of Building Leadership from Wichita State University, and his District Level Endorsement from Fort Hays State University.
His community involvement includes the Greater Wichita Partnership Strategic Advisory Team, Wichita Manufacturers Association board member, Junior Achievement board member, and Local Youth Workforce Development board member. He has served at the state level as a leader on the Kansas Advisory Committee for CTE, the KSBOE Graduation Requirements Task Force, and nationally on the Regional Education Laboratory Board of Directors since 2022.
Mr. Bielefeld and his wife, Angie, have eight children and are #WPSProud parents of students in high, middle, and elementary schools in Wichita Public Schools.
