West High Academies: Construction, Aviation, Production, & Engineering

The CAPE Academy utilizes the Project Lead the Way curriculum, which is a pre-engineering program of study for high school students. This unique program, developed by professional field and research engineers, offers a complete career/technical concentration with an emphasis on both mathematics and science. The manufacturing academy will expose the students to the processes involved in manufacturing through a curriculum developed by professionals currently working in the manufacturing field and curriculum area instructors. Both the engineering and manufacturing classroom experiences will be enhanced through in-class work, hands-on activities, field trips, and job shadowing. Students completing multiple years in the academy, will have the opportunity to compete for summer internships at the end of their junior year. The mission of Project Lead the Way is to create dynamic partnerships with schools to prepare an increasing and more diverse group of students to be successful in engineering and engineering technology programs.
