• 8th Grade Signature Unit:  

    Natural Disaster Preparedness 

     

     Every year, the 8th grade students get to participate in a cross-curricular STEM and Careers project.  Here, each core class focuses on a different aspect of the project in order to help with the overall success of their project.

     

    Earlier in the school year, a group of 8th grade teachers met with a group of 8th grade student leaders to brain storm different ideas.  During their meetings it was abundantly clear that the students wanted to participate in a project that would have a positive impact on communities they care about.  The students came up with a variety of ideas, some of them were raising money for the end of the year 8th grade celebration, mentoring elementary students, and collecting money to help with the earthquakes that had recently effected Mexico. 

     

    It has been decided that our signature unit this year will be about Natural Disasters.  Part of what we are most excited about is using our Signature Unit Night (March 1, 2018) to raise money/collect goods to help with the hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.  Stay tuned for more details as we roll out our signature unit into our classes.
