WPS staff surprised with Education EDGE mini grants
Thirty teachers and school-based staff members across the district were recently surprised with Education EDGE Classroom Mini-Grants to support their classroom projects.

Nominate a Wichita Public Schools employee for the Excellence in Public Service Award
Employees and residents are encouraged to nominate public service employees for the annual Excellence in Public Service Award. Nominations will be accepted through 5 p.m., Feb. 24.

WPS magnet schools win national recognition
Seven WPS magnet schools have won national recognition from the Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.

All-City Honor Concerts showcase Wichita’s finest student musicians
The Wichita Public Schools present the annual All-City Honor Concerts at Century II Concert Hall. These concerts showcase the talents of hundreds of Wichita Public Schools students ranging from grades 5-12. The concerts, sponsored by Friends University, are free and open to the public.

North High senior named WSU Gore Scholar
Maley Hansen, senior at North High School, received the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarship at Wichita State University.

My WPS Story - Jessica Mow
Jessica Mow is the lead teacher for the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Newcomer program at Curtis Middle School. A program at WSU placed her at Marshall, where she fell in love with working in the ESOL program.

Video: BOE looks at feedback – develops superintendent profile
During the January 23, 2023 Board of Education meeting, BOE members heard from search firm Ray & Associates about feedback they received from online surveys and listening sessions about desired qualities for the new superintendent. The BOE used the feedback to develop a profile for what they want in the new leader.

BOE approves 2023-24 school year calendar
The Board of Education approved the 2023-24 school year calendar during its January 23, 2023 meeting. The first day of school for all students is August 15, 2023 and the last day of school is May 23, 2024. New for the 23-24 school year, all schools will have Parent-Teacher Conferences on the same dates.
