• The students are being taught a new way to curb bullying at PVMS and the steps are:
    STOP/WALK/TALK.
Basically, they use sign language for stop and firmly communicate to the other person their request (i.e. Stop calling me names or I will tell an adult).  If it continues, they are to walk away calmly and talk to an adult.  The sign language is a trigger for students as well as adults that there is a potential problem.  As an adult/staff in the building, we respectfully request you do the following:

When students report problem behavior to an adult:
    1. Adults will thank you for coming to them
    2. They will ask you what the problem is
    3. They will ask if you said "stop"
    4. They will ask if you "walked away" calmly
    5. They will practice Stop/Walk/Talk

Please help us reinforce these steps and make PVMS a Bully Free Environment where all are treated with respect!

The Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) along with the Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL) has developed a resource anonymous helpline for parents and youth directly dealing with the serious issue of bullying. This 24 Hour Parent & Youth Resource Hotline number is 1-800-CHILDREN (1-800-244-5373). The Resource Line can also be contacted via text or email at 1800children@kcsl.org.  This hotline has the capabilities of speaking to non-English speakers.

Step up and be an Upstander, not a Bystander!
