  • 6th Grade Summer Homework 2019 2020

This assignment is for the incoming 6th grade PIB students.  Students will return to school with information about their oldest living relative, and this will be used for a research paper this coming school year. Summer is a time when family travels, so if this can be done in person that would be fantastic. If it cannot be done in-person, then it can be completed via telephone, letter, or videochat. The objective is for the student to learn about the history of their family and the reasons they came to the United States.

  • 7th and 8th Grade Summer Homework 2019 2020

Future seventh and eighth graders must read a total of two books:

    • one book from the attached list (also found on our team website http://www.usd259.org/robinson/pib) AND
    • one from any one of the following literary award lists: American Library Association (ALA), Edgar, Newberry, Nobel (Fiction or Non-Fiction), National Book Award.

You may not select a book you have previously read for a class assignment. If there is a book of literary merit you would like to read that is not on any of the above lists, please email Mrs. Sims (ksims@usd259.net) or Mrs. Lavacek (mlavacek@usd259.net) early in the summer to clear the title.

In addition to reading, students also need to keep their math skills sharp.  Incoming 7th Graders: Practice your computation skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing) with integers, fractions, and decimals.  Incoming 8th Graders: Practice solving equations (one-step, two-step, multi-step, and variable on both sides).  You may use your 7th grade textbook for practice or Google “solving equations worksheets” to find examples.
