       Magnet timeline 2020 academic year

      1. Students must submit an application.
        1. Siblings who have a current student attending a magnet school must submit an on time application to receive sibling priority to the same school. Sibling priority does not guarantee placement, only priority selection over applicants who do not have a sibling attending. Pre-K students assigned to a magnet school do not count for sibling preference, as the magnet placement system does not start until Kindergarten.
        2. Students must be 5 on or before August 31st to be eligible for Kindergarten.
        3. Only applications for Kindergarten through 12th grade are accepted. Pre-K students are not allowed to apply for a magnet school. If you are interested in Pre-K, please contact the Pre-K office at 973-4708 or visit their website.
      2. All on time applications are then put into a random computerized lottery for first choice schools.
      3. Notifications are mailed, texted, and/or emailed.
      4. Family responds by accepting or declining.
      5. For students that decline placement the next student on the waitlist will be offered a seat; this will continue until all seats are filled.
      6. Late applications will be placed behind all the on time applications in date order received.

    *  Note:  At the elementary level, the following are paired magnets and offer similar programs:  Black, Bostic, Cleaveland, and Isely Traditional Magnet.  When applying for any of these magnet schools, boundary guidelines for placement will be identified by the Magnet Admissions Office. The student’s application will be processed for the magnet school that is identified by their home address.

Students from Traditional elementaries (Black, Bostic, Cleaveland, and Isely) will have a priority to Allison Traditional Middle School.  However, the sibling priotiry takes precedent over the Traditional prioritiy and attendance is not guaranteed.
