Safety and Security at Hamilton Middle School
If you are picking up a student, you MUST have some form of identification present to do so. If you are not the parent/guardian of the student, we must have prior approval from the student's parent/guardian in order for you to pick them up.
In efforts to continue to maintain a safe environment for our students and staff, USD 259 has implemented a new security feature in our building. All visitors entering Hamilton will now have to be buzzed in by the office between the hours of 8:00AM and 3:40PM because all exterior doors will be locked during these hours. There is now a silver video camera and speaker box located north of the entrance doors on the brick wall. You will need to walk over to the box, press the button, and wait for the office to communicate through the speaker and advise that the door on the right is open and you may enter. You will need to come straight to the office to check into our Hall Pass system using your State ID or assigned key fob if you plan to be in our hallways. This also means that late students will need to be buzzed in and come straight to the office for a pass to class. Everyone in the building has been advised to not let anyone in, so we ask that you are not stopping or flagging anyone at the door to let you in. The system is designed to keep us safe and we intend to enforce that safety for all involved. We ask that you help us by explaining this to your child and to anyone that may visit your student, as well.
We greatly appreciate your patience with the new system and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the office at 973-5350.
