About Wichita Public Schools

Wichita Public Schools provides unparalleled opportunities for students - in the classroom; by participation in service and extra-curricular activities in safe school facilities. WPS is unwavering in its mission to equip every learner with the tools to flourish in life, college, or career.

WPS is the largest school district in Kansas, educating approximately 10 percent of all public school students in the state of Kansas, and more than half of all school-aged children in Sedgwick County. 

We are proud of our award-winning schools, outstanding teachers and staff, accomplished students, and committed parents and volunteers. WPS serves students in 88 schools and special program locations, employing nearly 10,000 dedicated professionals.
