P1389 Concealed Observations

Students and employees are not to be audio or video taped or photographed by the use of concealed devices without the prior approval of the Superintendent. 

Administrative Implemental Procedures

  1. Teachers are not to be monitored by intercom or other mechanical or electronic devices without their knowledge and permission. 
  2. Any plan to make an audio or video recording of or to photograph students or employees by use of a concealed recorder or camera must have the prior approval of the Superintendent. 
  3. Generally, plans to use a concealed recorder or camera to record or to photograph students or employees for promotional purposes will not be approved. 
  4. Disclosure of any audio or video recording or photograph of students must be done in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, as amended, and its interpretive regulations, 34 C.F.R. § 99.1, et seq.
