P1849 Student Rights and Parent Involvement
- 1100 Administration
Instructional materials, including teachers’ manuals, films, tapes, or other supplementary material which will be used in connection with a student’s educational program shall be available for inspection by the lawful custodian.
Personal information from a student in the specific areas listed in AIP #1 and the plan for subsequent analysis and evaluation of that personal information shall be available for inspection by the lawful custodian. Active written consent of the lawful custodian is required prior to participation by the student unless designated as an annually approved district instrument by the Board of Education.
Administrative Implemental Procedures
- The responsible party shall obtain active written consent prior to participation which requests personal information from a student relative to any of the following:
- Political affiliations
- Mental and psychological problems
- Sexual behavior and sexual attitudes
- Privileged or confidential relationships
- Income (other than that required by law to determine eligibility for participation in a program or for receiving financial assistance under such program)
- Self-incriminating behavior
- Each school shall be responsible for giving notice of this policy to lawful custodians and students.
