P2212 Parent Teacher Groups
A major purpose of the Parent-Teacher Groups is to promote the cooperation of parents, teachers, and other adult citizens in matters concerning the education and welfare of students.
Administrative Implemental Procedures
- The Parent-Teacher Groups shall be encouraged to explore educational issues facing the particular school and the school district. The Parent-Teacher Group may be a source of community opinion for the administration and the Board of Education, as well as a communications link between the school and parents. The Parent-Teacher Group is encouraged to represent the interests and concerns of parents to the school, as well as to work with the school in the solution of these mutual problems.
- The principal works as a consultant, leader, or interpreter with parent-teacher groups and committees.
- The principal or a representative appointed by the principal shall be a member of the Executive Committee of the Parent-Teacher Group.
- Requests from the Parent-Teacher Group to teachers and students or from teachers to the Parent-Teacher Association are handled through the principal's office.
- School facilities and equipment are to be made reasonably available to the Parent-Teacher Group.
- Limited building-based clerical assistance, including distribution of printed materials and financial record-keeping, may be given to Parent-Teacher executive groups at the discretion of the building principal.
- At the secondary level, the individual Parent-Teacher Groups may elect to expand their membership to include students (Parent-Teacher-Student Groups).
