P5220 School Psychology Services
Psychological services are available to students in the Wichita Public Schools by State certified school psychologists. Principals who are responsible for implementing the comprehensive school psychology program supervise school psychologists. Psychologists are also responsible to the Coordinator of Psychological Services who provides technical supervision and coordinates the districtwide program in this area.
Administrative Implemental Procedures:
- School psychology is a support service which assists in the psychological growth of students and in the maintenance of a mentally healthy school environment.
- School psychologists shall provide psychological services including consultation, psychological counseling, assessment, interventions, progress monitoring, and advocacy in accordance with their job description.
- School psychology services shall be available to both general education and special education students.
- Facilities for conducting school psychologist functions shall be provided at each school.
- Staff administration support and assistance shall be available from the Coordinator of Psychological Services.
- School psychologists shall administer and interpret individual psychological tests as part of comprehensive special education evaluations and Section 504 evaluations.
- The Psychological Services Office shall maintain a list of tests approved for use by school psychologists in the school district.
