P5415 Programs for Delinquent Students in Institutions

Special instructional programs will be provided in cooperation with Sedgwick County Juvenile Court in those facilities where educational programs are deemed appropriate.

Administrative Implemental Procedures:

  1. Students will normally transfer back to their original school when released by the Sedgwick County Juvenile Court.
  2. The teachers and staff assigned to institutional programs and the regular school counselors have the responsibility for making the student transfer as efficiently and promptly as possible, and for coordinating the instructional offerings in such a way as to minimize the loss of credits.
  3. When the student returns to regular public school, the receiving school should request the student’s folder from the institutions.
  4. Credits earned while in the institutional programs are cumulative and count towards graduation requirements.
  5. Students expelled from the district may be served in the programs.
