P6317 Elementary Time Allotment

The school day is seven hours in length for grades kindergarten to five. Recommended time allotments for the various subjects and interdisciplinary activities on the weekly program of studies are determined by Learning Services. 

Administrative Implemental Procedures: 

1. The principal and area administrator are responsible for the implementation of this policy. 
2. Weekly time allotments will allow flexibility in planning. 
3. Requests for deviations for specific building programs will be submitted for approval to the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education. 
4. An interdisciplinary approach to learning is encouraged provided it maintains accountability for district grade-subject instructional/learning outcomes. 
5. Weekly lesson plans, with consideration given to weekly time allotments, will be on file in each teacher's classroom and available upon request for monitoring.
