P6320 Enrollment and Classifying Students
- 6250 Instruction
Students will be enrolled in grades and classes in which they can be expected to master established district instructional/learning objectives. All students who are included under the compulsory school attendance law must be enrolled and required to attend all classes prescribed by the State of Kansas and the Unified School District 259 Board of Education unless exempt by school authorities. At the elementary and middle level, students shall be assigned to the grade level recommended by the building principal consistent with state law and individual student achievement data. High school students are classified by cohort consistent with Federal Guidelines regarding high school graduation rate.
Administrative Implemental Procedures:

Students shall be assigned to the grade level in elementary and middle schools, or be enrolled in classes recommended by the principal consistent with state guidelines. Ability to meet district grade-subject and course instructional/learning objectives will be a major factor in grade level assignment.

High School students shall be assigned into grade levels by cohort. Cohort is determined by a student’s 9th grade entry date.
