In order to provide optimum learning conditions for all students, administrators and teachers may organize instruction for students to attain specific educational goals. An effort will be made to de-emphasize the labeling of groups. Grouping must be flexible, allowing students to be placed in or out of various groups based upon student performance, interest, and other accepted criteria. Students may be in single or multiple groups depending upon their eligibility.
Administrative Implemental Procedures:

At the elementary level, students are grouped according to one or more factors such as the following:

Expectations of meeting state instructional/learning objectives

Teacher recommendation

Grade placement
-
Chronological age
-
Organizational pattern utilized in the school.

At the middle and high school level, students are grouped to participate in courses outlined in the Program of Studies for the Middle Schools and Program of Studies for the High Schools. Factors to consider in enrolling in a specific course might include grade in school, logical sequence of courses, or complexity of course content.

Within classrooms students may be grouped for specific learning tasks based on observed needs, expressed interests, and measured abilities or achievement. Informal grouping done by teachers to facilitate learning is encouraged, including grouping for different instructional levels within a content area, grouping for special projects and reports, grouping to pursue special interests.

Student grouping will be organized in such a manner as to minimize separation, based on race or sex, within each attendance center, each classroom, or grouping within the classroom.
