P6786 Rehearsal and Performance by In-School Musical Groups

Music groups will be provided adequate opportunities to rehearse and perform to enhance music learning, skill development, and appropriate performance expectations.
Administrative Implemental Procedures:

Performances and additional rehearsals will be scheduled by the music teacher with the approval of the appropriate principal(s) well in advance of the rehearsal or performance date.

At the beginning of the school year, students enrolled in elective performance groups should be informed of:

Additional rehearsals as needed for proficiency of performance

The need for students to attend at all rehearsals and performances except for personal illness, death in the family, or emergency request by the parent

Assumption of their duties and obligations to their school musical groups when conflicts with non-school activities arise

Grading policies and guidelines.

No group will perform so frequently that an excessive burden is placed on students, which may hinder their academic achievement and may not enhance music learning.

Requirement for dress for elective performing groups should not place a severe financial burden on students or parents. Purchase, rental, or construction of specific wearing apparel for any required music classes will not be mandatory.

Sunday rehearsals shall be avoided.
