Wichita Public Schools operates more than 80 buildings, many of which are over 60 years old and no longer meet the needs of today’s students. The WPS bond issue on the Feb. 25 ballot would address the needs of today’s students through new, rebuilt and updated schools. The bond will provide funding to: 

• Address critical infrastructure issues such as roofs, windows, heating and cooling systems, electrical, and plumbing. 
• Begin updating classrooms and labs to allow for best practices in teaching and learning.
• Establish a new construction trades FutureReady center to provide up-to-date career training and an early childhood education center. 
• Strengthen safety and security systems.
• Improve accessibility for students with physical disabilities.

Addressing these needs will help prepare all of our students for success in today’s rapidly changing world.
 

Due to proper financial planning by the district, the bond issue will not change the district’s current bond mill levy — it will stay at the same level as it is today, meaning the tax rate you pay stays the same. 

Retiring inefficient buildings and consolidating them into new, more efficient facilities would save millions in operational and maintenance costs. The district would be able to redirect those dollars across all district schools and better meet long-term needs. 

The comprehensive, long-term plan was developed by expert analysis of building conditions, learning environments, enrollment trends, and capacity needs and includes feedback from thousands of community members, representing a shared commitment to today’s students. 

We can fund $450 million in essential projects with zero change to the district’s tax rate. The rate will remain one of the lowest in the region.

Every registered voter within the Wichita Public Schools School District 259 is eligible to cast a ballot in the Tuesday, Feb. 25 bond issue election. 

• Feb. 4 - Voter registration deadline

• Feb. 18 - Advance in-person voting at Sedgwick County Election Office begins (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and the deadline to request an advance ballot be mailed to you
• Feb. 20 - Advance voting begins at all satellite locations (Monday - Friday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
• Feb. 24 Advance in-person voting ends (12 p.m.)
• Feb 25 - Election day! Polls open (7 a.m. - 7 p.m.)

• Ngày 18 tháng 2 - Bỏ phiếu sớm trực tiếp tại Văn phòng Bầu cử Quận Sedgwick bắt đầu (8 giờ sáng - 5 giờ chiều) và cũng là hạn chót để yêu cầu lá phiếu bỏ sớm gởi cho quý vị qua bưu điện.
• Ngày 20 tháng 2 - Bỏ phiếu sớm bắt đầu tại tất cả các địa điểm vệ tinh ( Thứ Hai - Thứ Sáu: 10 giờ sáng - 6 giờ chiều, Thứ Bảy: 9 giờ sáng - 1 giờ chiều)
• Ngày 24 tháng 2 - Bỏ phiếu sớm trực tiếp kết thúc (12 giờ trưa)
• Ngày 25 tháng 2 - Ngày bỏ phiếu!! Các điểm bỏ phiếu mở cửa (7 giờ sáng - 7 giờ tối)
