Meet Superintendent Kelly Bielefeld
Superintendent Bielefeld began his tenure on July 1, 2023. Mr. Bielefeld previously served as the Wichita Public Schools Executive Director of College and Career Readiness.
He currently leads the largest school district in the state of Kansas, which educates approximately 47,000 students of diverse backgrounds.
Mr. Bielefeld has previous leadership experience in other communities around the Wichita area including as Assistant Superintendent in Clearwater-USD 264 and as a principal in Derby-USD 260, Renwick-USD 267, and the Diocese of Wichita.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Kansas State University, his Masters of Building Leadership from Wichita State University, and his District Level Endorsement from Fort Hays State University.
His community involvement includes the being an active member of the Greater Wichita Partnership Strategic Advisory Team and a board member for the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce. He has also served in the past on the Wichita Manufacturers Association board, Junior Achievement board, and the Local Youth Workforce Development board. He has served his profession at the state level as a leader on the Kansas Advisory Committee for CTE, the Kansas Board of Education Graduation Requirements Task Force, and nationally on the Regional Education Laboratory Board of Directors since 2022.
Mr. Bielefeld and his wife, Angie, are #WPSProud parents of students in elementary, middle and high schools in Wichita Public Schools.
