Summer food program starts Wednesday, May 27

Summer food program starts Wednesday, May 27

Free breakfasts and lunches will be offered to all children 18 years old and younger at 33 locations in Wichita as part of the WPS Summer Food Service Program. The free breakfast/lunch program begins Wednesday, May 27, and runs through Friday, July 24. The free meals are available to all children, regardless of which school district they attend and not just students who receive free/reduced meals during the school year.

For dine-in sites, no meal reservations are required and there are no qualifying guidelines or paperwork to fill out. Due to changes in federal regulations, children must be present to receive a meal and all meals must be consumed onsite.

A weekly to-go meal bag is being offered every Wednesday at Southeast High School. Parents must register weekly to pick-up.

Locations, times and more details can be found at usd259.org/summerfood.

The Kansas State Department of Education and the United States Department of Agriculture sponsor the Summer Food Service Program, which has been administered by the Wichita Public Schools since 1982.
