BOE hears about Facility Master Plan Community Engagement

BOE hears about Facility Master Plan Community Engagement

The Facility Master Plan community engagement strategy was shared with the Board of Education during their April 8, 2024 BOE meeting.

In January, the community was invited to share their thoughts on long-term school facility priorities. There were more than 3,000 responses to the survey. The top priorities were optimizing and upgrading our facilities, which means making strategic investments in infrastructure to address building needs, enhance the learning experience and optimize resources. More than 70% of respondents agreed with the need for additional funding to support building renovations and improvements.

Wichita Public Schools will host four community feedback sessions to listen to district stakeholders as part of the work with the Facility Master Plan.

The feedback sessions will be April 22 or 23 throughout Wichita.

•    April 22, 5:30pm – Alvin Morris Administrative Center, 903 S. Edgemoor
•    April 22, 7:30pm – Brooks Magnet Middle School, 3802 E. 27th N.
•    April 23, 5:30pm – West High School, 820 S. Osage
•    April 23, 7:30pm – North High School, 1437 N. Rochester

At the sessions, there will be a large group discussion to review the data, challenges and options. Attendees will break into small groups to discuss the pros and cons of what was presented, additions or changes they would like to see, along with opportunities to share additional thoughts. The feedback will be summarized and shared with the Board of Education as part of the final Facility Master Plan recommendation.
