Loren Hatfield chosen to participate in Leadership Institute

Dr. Loren Hatfield, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools, was selected to participate in the Council of the Great City Schools’ Michael Casserly Urban Executive Leadership Institute for Superintendents. Dr. Hatfield is among ten other urban school district administrators from across the country who will participate in the program.

Participants will learn from other districts regarding common issues faced by urban superintendents, including school board relations, academic performance, media relations and politics, operations, finances, ethics and labor relations. She will also shadow other urban superintendents as part of the program.

“The opportunity to learn from other successful superintendents in systems that mirror WPS is unique and will be an amazing professional learning opportunity.” Dr. Hatfield said. “I will be a better support for Wichita Public Schools because of this learning experience.”

Candidates are identified through an extensive recommendation process by the Council of the Great City Schools. Those who pass the recommendation stage are then invited to apply for the rigorous selection process to identify program participants.
