Six East High School students named National Merit Semifinalists

Six East High School students named National Merit Semifinalists

The National Merit Scholarship Program has named six Semifinalists from East High School on Wednesday, September 10.

Henry Grohe, Ayrasipas Montoya, Samuel Muehling, Calder Smartt, Gaurish Sridhar and Rayan Zaman were surprised during class by school staff announcing their accomplishment.

The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Students become National Merit Semifinalists by taking the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during their junior year and are the highest-scoring entrants in the state.

Students can become National Merit finalists through a detailed application process and earn high SAT or ACT scores. National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in the spring.

WPS is unwavering in its mission to equip every learner with the tools to flourish in life, college, or career.
