Strategic Plan interim goal update about middle school 5-year plans

On April 4, 2025, the Wichita Board of Education heard an update about 5-year plan interim goals that support the Every Student Future Ready Strategic Plan.

The 5-year plans for middle school students are interim goals that support Student Success Outcome 2: Prepare students for life, college and career.

Middle School Interim Goal: 100% of current 8th graders (in 2024-25) will complete a 5-year plan by the end of May 2025.

100% of all schools met their goal.

The 5-year plan has every 8th grade student create a list in Xello of all the courses they will take in high school and their plan for their first year out of high school. Students work with teachers to determine which would be the appropriate classes to take in high school based on their interests. High school counselors and teachers will review and revise the plans each year.
