Strategic Plan interim goal updates for high school ACT scores, elementary reading and middle school math scores
The Board of Education heard an update about some of the interim goals that support the Student Success Outcomes of the Every Student Future Ready Strategic Plan during the March 3, 2025 meeting.
ACT and ACT WorkKeys scores, elementary reading and middle school math scores are interim goals that support Student Success Outcome 1: Increase academic achievement and graduation rate.
High School Interim Goal: Increase the percentage of students scoring a 21 or higher on the ACT OR scoring a silver or higher on the ACT WorkKeys from 34.2% to 37.7% by spring 2025.
In 24-25 school year, the percentage of students scoring a 21 or higher on the ACT or a silver or higher on the ACT WorkKeys is 39.01% as of March 3, 2025.
More than 72% of juniors took the ACT and 70% of students took the ACT WorkKeys tests. WorkKeys is recommended for high school seniors, especially if they plan to enter the workforce upon graduation. WPS offers ACT and ACT WorkKeys for free to students.
Elementary Interim Goal: Decrease the percentage of students below benchmark on 3rd grade aReading from 56.5% to 53% by May 2025.
Fifteen elementary schools met the year-end goal target by March 2025.
Middle School Interim Goal: Decrease the percentage of students below benchmark on 8th grade aMath from 63% to 59.5% by May 2025.
Thirteen middle schools have made progress toward their year-end goal by March 2025
