Strategic Plan updates for elementary and middle school screeners

Strategic Plan updates for elementary and middle school screeners

The Board of Education heard about a change to how we will measure progress for some of the interim goals that support the Strategic Plan during the November 4, 2024 meeting.

Executive Directors Holly Ingram and Amanda Sharshel shared with the Board that the district is shifting to aReading for measuring elementary growth and aMath to measure middle school growth. The state assessments tests and cut scores are changing, so the district won’t be able to compare spring 2024 and spring 2025 scores. Shifting data collection to aReading and aMath are designed to identify students who need additional support and predict performance on state accountability measures. The assessments are given in fall, winter and spring, and can provide better data on student performance throughout the year.

Elementary Interim Goal: Decrease the percentage of students below benchmark on 3rd grade aReading from 56.5% to 53% by May 2025.

Middle School Interim Goal: Decrease the percentage of students below benchmark on 8th grade aMath from 63% to 59.5% by May 2025.
