Kindergarten
Welcome to Kindergarten!
Kindergarten is an exciting time for your child. For your child to enroll in Kindergarten in the Wichita Public Schools, they will need to be 5 years old by August 31 of the year they'll start. We offer a free, full-day program at all of our elementary schools.
To find your neighborhood elementary school, use our SchoolFinder or contact Student Records and Enrollment Services at 316-973-4498.
To learn more about magnet school options for your student, visit our Magnet Department page. Applications for the 2025-26 school year will open on October 7, 2024, and will be due in February 2025. Any students in pre-k at a WPS magnet elementary need to apply to remain there for kindergarten and beyond.
Students new to the area can go to our Enrollment page for more information about the enrollment process.
