Intro to Kindergarten

Welcome to Wichita Public Schools!

Intro to Kindergarten for 2025-26 will feature in-person events at elementary schools on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. 

At these events, parents and caregivers will learn about the information needed to start preparing your student for Kindergarten during the 2025-26 school year. This includes a presentation that provides basic information about what to expect in Kindergarten classes across our district; explanations about the screening assessments - Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) - you will complete for your student; and an important introduction to attendance expectations. You can find documents explaining these items at the bottom of this page if you are unable to attend.

Your student's school may have additional information to share with you as we get close to the start of the school year. Be on the lookout for that to come directly from school staff. 

For a list of documents you'll need to upload during the online enrollment process, visit our Ready to Enroll page and look for the "New Families" tab. In-person enrollment will be held July 28-29, 2025, at each school building. Families of Kindergarten students will be required to enroll in person. If you have older students in the district, you should go where the Kindergarten student will be attending to complete enrollment for all students.Information will be added to this page in early spring 2025 for each elementary school's activities. Please look for your child's school for more information on its Intro to Kindergarten event time and activities. More information will be added weekly as activities are confirmed by the schools.
