All About Us
Val Jackson Elementary opened in the fall of 2004. We have approximately 300 students in pre-k through fifth grade. In addition to our general education classrooms for kindergarten through fifth grade, we have 2 pre-K classrooms, 2 mixed abilities classrooms, 1 applied academic classroom and 1 academic life skills classroom. Our students have the opportunity to participate in specials on a daily basis. These include PE, music, art, and library. Jackson has an active Parents as Teachers program with playgroups meeting every Wednesday.
Jackson Elementary is partnered with Love Schools. Love Schools is a nonprofit here in Wichita with the goal of connecting our community to the classroom. Love Schools helps our school by providing partner businesses and organizations from our school neighborhood to volunteer and support our students, families, and staff. You can learn more about Love Schools by visiting their website at: https://loveschools.org/.
Jackson students in 3rd through 5th grade participate in our leadership program, "Action Jackson" once per month. Through Action Jackson, students learn about the Wichita community via guest speakers and have opportunities to participate in community service projects. Action Jackson's goal is to show students that there is a leader inside all of us! If you'd like like to learn more about our Action Jackson program and ways you can help, please reach out to our social worker, Jennifer Atchison, at jatchison@usd259.net.
