Dear Truesdell parents:
Our teachers and staff are excited about providing you with another year full of excitement and learning. We welcome you to visit our school any time to talk about your child and his/her progress during the year.
You may have heard us talk a number of times about the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 in our school and district. One of the key provisions of this federal plan is to make sure schools have the most highly qualified teachers in the classrooms possible. We believe we are working hard to do just that! In fact, should you wish to receive information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers, ESSA allows you to ask our school to provide the following information:
- Whether your child’s teacher has met state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subjects taught;
- Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency / other provisional license or whether licensing criteria have been waived;
- The teacher's degree major and any other graduate certification or degree held; and,
- Whether the child is provided services by a paraprofessional and, if so, their qualifications.
If you would like to receive any of this information, please feel free to submit your request to me in writing and I will gladly follow up with you. If you have any questions about the Every Student Succeeds Act and its impact on our school, don’t hesitate to contact me at 973-3900.
You will be receiving your child’s spring state assessment scores this fall when they become available. District and Individual school report cards are available at: http://ksreportcard.ksde.org/home.aspx?org_no=D0259&rptType=2. Please contact us if you have questions or would like to request further information about your child’s assessment scores or school/district information.
Thank you for all you do to support your child’s education!
