AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system for elementary through higher education that is designed to increase schoolwide learning and performance. The AVID College Readiness System (ACRS) accelerates student learning, uses research based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional learning, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change.
KU Doc for a Day
On Saturday, Nov. 5th, junior AVID students Carmen Alvarez, Fernanda Arias, and Beatriz Batres Arreola participated in the Doc for a Day event at the KU Medical Center in Wichita. The half-day program is designed to give high school juniors and seniors a taste of what medical school and medical careers are like. Fernanda, Beatriz and Carmen are pictured here with a medical mannequin used in the demonstrations.
