• Project Graduation 2018
The theme for this year’s event is A Sweet Ending To A New Beginning. Our Project Grad Parent Committee has been working extremely hard to ensure this celebration will be packed with memorable times for our seniors. There will be a nationally known hypnotist to entertain the graduates, inflatables, games, food, dancing, decorations, photo booth, AND FABULOUS PRIZES! The party will be going strong from 10:30pm-3:30am, May 15th after graduation inside Northwest High School.

    Senior Parents and Supporters:

Our next Project Graduation meeting will be held on Monday, April 9 at 7:00pm. If you have ordered a 2018 yard sign for your graduate, they will be available at this meeting for pick up. If you have not yet ordered a yard sign, you still have time! Final deadline for ordering a yard sign will be April 1st. Also at this meeting, you and your family will have the opportunity to sign up to chaperone on the night of Project Graduation.

Project Graduation will be held on May 15th, after the graduation ceremony, from 10:30pm-3:30am at NWHS. We have been working extremely hard over the past 9 months to ensure this evening is filled with memorable times for each of our graduates. There will be inflatables, games, food, photos and a hypnotist coming from Florida to entertain our graduates – plus drawings for awesome prizes! We want our Seniors to feel excited about celebrating together, one last time, in a safe and inclusive environment. This fun filled event is parent led and relies entirely upon the support of you and others. If you have not yet sent in the $25.00 Project Graduation donation per student, please consider doing so at this time.

Project Graduation is also working to create a DVD presentation, which will be shown during the graduation ceremony at Koch Arena.  This presentation will include your graduates cap and gown photo along with a baby/toddler photo of your graduate. In order for this to be a success, we need each of you to email a baby/toddler picture (no more than 2 pictures) of your Senior to the email address’ below, no later than Monday, April 30th.  You can also purchase a copy of this DVD for $10, which will be given to your Senior at Project Graduation.

Our committee has created t-shirts based on our theme, “Sweet Ending to a New Beginning”, with a list of all Senior names on the back.  You can view the t-shirt design on the website at https://www.usd259.org/domain/2710.  If you or a family member are interested in volunteering, you can purchase a volunteer t-shirt as well.  Be sure to include t-shirt sizes on the order form below.  Last day to order t-shirts will be April 9th.

Thank you so much for your support and helping to make this a memorable event for our Seniors!!

    What is Project Graduation?
Project Graduation is a program offered by many high schools in the United States, in which adult-supervised and alcohol-free activities are offered as part of a post-graduation party, as an alternative to student-run events involving alcoholic or other drugs.

In 1979, the community of Oxford Hills, Maine experienced seven alcohol and drug related teen deaths during the commencement season of that year. In the wake of these tragedies, the community rallied together to offer the next year’s seniors a safe and alternative event.  The party was held at the local fair grounds and called “Project Graduation”. The event was a huge success and became the model for the nation, helping to protect the lives of graduating seniors in all states. To read the original 1980 newspaper article, click here

Project Graduation has become much more than an event that occurs on graduation night. It is a community-wide planning process that strives to create a caring, supportive and SAFE drug and alcohol free environment for our teenagers during this very exciting time in their lives.
