• Learning Model Options - EI Academy program at capacity graphic

WPS offered different learning options for students when they return: Onsite, MySchool Remote online learning and Education Imagine Academy vitual school. As of July 30, 2020, Education Imagine Academy is at capacity for the 20-21 school year. Families can select the option, onsite or MySchool Remote, that best works for them when they enroll. For students who have already enrolled and have yet to select a Learning Model option: Sign into the enrollment website and select the Student section.  Under “Demographics” are pages to select Education Imagine Academy and Face to Face or MySchool Remote learning options.

    Onsite (In-person learning)
     - In this option, students will participate in traditional, face-to-face instruction with standard bell times and schedule, as well as enhanced health and safety guidelines in place.

    MySchool Remote (online learning)
     - In this option, students will participate in full online learning while remaining enrolled at their neighborhood or magnet school. Learning will be paced with all students in the classroom. Technology devices will be provided to students, who will engage with classmates and teachers each school day. Parents, students and teachers will be required to submit a signed daily log of activities. A semester-long commitment will be required, with the option to remain in MySchool Remote or return to in-person, onsite instruction at the end of the semester. Not all course options will be available for middle and high school students, but more classes may be added depending on enrollment.

School Hours for MySchool Remote are the same as will be the same as in-person in their buildings, in order to have one master schedule at each school.

    Secondary Magnet Schools – (Northeast, Allison, Brooks, Jardine, Mayberry) 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    Middle and High Schools – 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    Elementary Schools – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    MySchool Remote Course Offerings -
This list includes most courses schools will offer with a MySchool Remote teacher. Additional course offerings may be added depending on enrollment in MySchool Remote.

Education Imagine Academy (virtual) - As of July 30, 2020, Education Imagine Academy is at capacity for the 20-21 school year. Students will participate in Wichita Public Schools’ K-12 full-time virtual school that provides flexibility in schedule and individualized pacing. Education Imagine Academy will be the student’s base school. Technology devices will be provided to students, and learning pace and timeline completion will be flexible. A semester-long commitment will be required, with the option to remain in Education Imagine Academy or return to in-person, onsite instruction at the end of the semester.

    Students with IEPs
can enroll in any of the options. Students with IEPs will still be offered their appropriate educational services to allow them to be successful in their setting, although some IEP teams may decide on temporary adjustments that are needed while providing services in a remote or virtual environment.

  • As the Future Ready Return to School Plan for the 2020-2021 school year is developed, the following priorities will guide our decision-making on major issues, grounded in the WPS strategic plan.

    • We will prioritize decisions in the best interest of the safety and well-being of WPS staff, families and students.
    • We will prioritize enhancement of a rigorous virtual learning system for all students that enables a seamless transition from traditional to online learning, as well as the skill development of teachers, students and families to support effective engagement upon return.
    • We will prioritize decisions and expenditures that transform our system for long-term benefit.
    • We will prioritize resources that help our most vulnerable and at-risk student populations.
    • We will prioritize a focused set of metrics that help us to evaluate the success of our return plan, but will not create a broad new set of accountability metrics.
