This course is new and being added to the 2021-2022 school year.
Heights will be offering a new course in Gaming Concepts. In this course, students will participate in a variety of gaming experiences designed to support the following: Demonstration of competency in motor skills; understanding movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of specific games; comprehending concepts related to health and preventative care in gamers; demonstrating the ability to use the interpersonal communication skills that respect others in an online gaming environment; and analyzing the reciprocal influence of Esports, culture, media, technology, and other factors. Please, understand this is not just playing video games. There will be coursework required.
In addition, there will be an after-school team for Esports. See the Esports link in the left-hand navigation or click here https://www.usd259.org/Page/20348 and please fill out the form if you are interested in participating. You do NOT have to be enrolled in the course to participate in the after-school competition.
