The Wichita Public Schools is committed to building relationships, connectedness and community with students, teachers, staff and parents. The Wichita Public Schools is partnering with the International Institute for Restorative Practices to train all staff in restorative practices.
The focus of restorative practice is building positive relationships with one another, and restoring relationships when harm has occurred. We are designing a more pro-active environment to build relationships and a stronger community for everyone in the Wichita Public Schools.
Restorative Practices is not about removing consequences for negative actions or behaviors. There will still be discipline and consequences for anyone who disrupts the learning environment.
The goal is to have everyone in the Wichita Public Schools trained in Restorative Practices. Additional information will continue to be added to this website.
Former Superintendent Dr. Alicia Thompson visited Pleasant Valley Middle School to learn how Restorative Practices are used in the school and the classroom.
