Wichita Public Schools will begin accepting volunteer registration forms in July for the 24-25 school year.

We are looking forward to welcoming volunteers and partners into Wichita Public Schools buildings again in Fall 2024 with appropriate pandemic protocols in place as called for by the status of our community's health. 

All individuals volunteering in a WPS school, including parents, are required to register as a volunteer every year. This registration allows us to conduct a background check on all volunteers to ensure the safety of our students, staff and visitors. It also provides us the information needed to contact volunteers in the event of schedule changes or building closures. 

Wichita Public Schools strives to maintain a positive, purposeful, and active relationship with the families of its students and with the wider community in which it operates. We do this by working with community agencies, businesses, congregations, and other groups to build the community support vital to the success of our schools. There are three ways you can be involved.

Mentor

Mentors are proof that ordinary people can do extraordinary things. Mentors make a difference in the lives of young people throughout Wichita, simply by spending time with students in schools. Many local organizations provide structured mentoring programs, and we recommend individuals interested in mentoring connect with the partner program that most closely aligns with their interests and reasons for volunteering. Partner
A partner relationship is a mutually beneficial relationship between a school or school district and a business or community group. Partner activities create a spirit of involvement and concern for public education, which is vital to success of both education and the business community.
