Dodge Elementary

Dodge Literacy Magnet Elementary School, constructed in 1940, is currently about 64,194 square feet. In 1944, a brick structure with four classrooms was added to the site, and in 1950, another four classrooms and two restrooms were added to that structure. In 1952, another addition was made consisting of eight rooms. In 1976, a new addition was built consisting of ten classrooms, restrooms, and a multipurpose room. In November 2008, a bond was passed for the new school construction and upgrades to facilities. Upon passage, Dodge was granted an entirely new building. “A Hall” consists of the gymnasium and cafeteria, as well as some smaller offices and the mechanical room. “B Hall” contains the library, reception area, offices, and conference rooms. “C Hall” is made up of ten classrooms and two restrooms. “D Hall” is the main hallway connecting each wing. “E Hall” is comprised of eight classrooms. “F Hall” is made up of eight classrooms and two restrooms. Construction was completed in 2011.

Dodge Literacy Magnet has significant opportunities for energy and operational savings. The graph above shows the baseline utility cost and projected future utility expenditure if energy conservation measures, as identified by Navitas' preliminary site audits, are implemented. Currently, this building spends approximately $78,195 annually (Baseline) on electricity and gas, with a baseline energy usage index (EUI) of 48. A building with similar systems and operations can have variable energy usage when efficiency measures are upgraded, depending on the occupancy load. The energy usage index can range between 30–40 EUI. The projected numbers are based on conservative efforts and reflect the district reducing the energy usage index to 35, which would result in total utility dollar savings of approximately $406,000 in energy costs over 15 years. This does not include additional operational dollar savings that would be achieved by implementing newer, more efficient systems.
